Alpkit's Gourdon isn't new, but we haven't looked at the latest variety of the internet-only brand's neat waterproof day-pack, so we reckoned it was about previously.
In essence, the Gourdon - ours is a 20-litre one, but there are also 25 and 30-litre variants - is a waterproof dry bag with somerset-top closure plus some straps, shock-cord and, depending on the representation, stuff pockets for water bottles or other items.
Hard To Seal
It definitely is mostly that simple. Generally packs aren't waterproof becase seams in a stodgy pack are time-consuming to tape or weld, plus not function will also tend to get in via the lid. The answer is generally to use an internal liner or dry bag. But if you're going to do that, why not justified get ride of the pack altogether and stick some shoulder straps on a dry bag?
They have, not super cultured ones, but they are adequately padded and shaped, plus there's a sliding sternum strap and minimalist webbing waist-beat. You also get a shock-corded compression system which pulls in the entire pack towards the back and can also be against to lash, say, spare clothing to the outside of the pack if needed.
