Great RAPIDS — Moving her business, Vue Design, out of her Ada Township habitation studio to downtown Grand Rapids is paying off for wedding tucker designer Shannon Gales.

She is one of nine tenants in the new retail incubator Shops @ Monroe Center & Partitionment, known as MoDiv.

Gales’ shabby glam lapse is part retail shop displaying classic designs, and part work accommodation with sewing machines on white antique tables. People walking through the incubator often interrupt to watch Gales in action, her red hair hiding her face as she sews. She doesn’t be firm stopping to answer questions or talk about her work.

“I’m getting a lot of disclosure,” Gales said.

Along with the visibility of being downtown, tenants say the rental prices in the distinguished Peck Building, at 40 Monroe Center, are surprisingly budget-priced. Other tenants include the Wolverine Company Store, Haworth Interphase, bokay by Eastern Floral, Caboose Sinc, 6.25 Paper Studio, Chai Boutique, Sofia Bella Couture and C-Prime.
