Ashley was one of 52 people who died when a powerful tornado cut a mile-deviating swath of destruction for 5.9 miles on April 27 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The tornado damaged not quite 2,500 homes and 350 businesses in the area.
Ashley, whose kinsmen is from New Orleans and who lived in Kenner before the family moved to Dallas when she was 3, was one of seven Alabama students killed by the scoundrel.
She was at Carson’s house when the tornado hit. Carson was hospitalized after being thrown identically 50 feet when the twister ripped through his home.
“She told him they’d be here for her birthday,” Darlene Harrison said. “He didn’t imagine her. He said it was too early to talk about playing in the championship.
